The Challenge

By Design: The Joe Caroff Story began as a passion project for filmmaker Mark Cerulli and Paul C. Rosen, who shared a deep appreciation for the remarkable legacy of graphic designer Joe Caroff and his impact on film history.

Without dedicated funding, the project moved forward whenever time and resources allowed. Over the course of seven years, Mark, Paul, and the broader Nitrous team remained committed to bringing the story to completion while balancing the realities of independent filmmaking and client work.

While most productions that work with Nitrous move through post-production in a matter of months, By Design followed a unique path due to its self-funded nature and long-term development cycle.
